Two Door Cinema Club – Changing of the Seasons

When I first heard this song, I had to quickly check whether it was another song from Two Door Cinema Club‘s latest album, Beacon. I then realised it had been over a year since Beacon was released and this was the title single of their just-released EP AND that they’re already working on their next studio album. Where has 2013 gone?!

My grapples with the speed of time aside, “Changing of the Seasons” is a solid song. It’s one of those songs that when I hear it once, I have to listen to it a few more times to feel satisfied. Although it feels like quite a light song, on closer inspection with lyrics like “’cause every day since you left me/I’ve thought less and less of you”, it’s actually quite unashamedly factual and bleak. It’s produced by French DJ Madeon and you can hear the slight French house influence throughout the song.

The Breakdown:

Hometown: Northern Ireland.
Latest EP: Changing of the Seasons, out September 30 2013.
Sounds like: Phoenix, Friendly Fires.
Say what? The name “Two Door Cinema Club” arose from a movie theatre called “Tudor Cinema” in their hometown. Singer Sam Halliday accidentally said “Two Door” instead of “Tudor” and the name ended up sticking.
