It’s difficult to ignore Saskwatch’s own infusion of indie soul packaged in bubbly pop music. What’s even better is that there are 9 members of Saskwatch, which makes me feel like they’re just a big group friends hanging out and producing fantastic music! It’s unsurprising that they’ve gone from busking on the streets of Melbourne to playing at the Glastonbury Festival in four short years.
The band has had quite a few stand out songs that basically require you to sing along with, like “I Get Lonely” and “Your Love”. They definitely didn’t disappoint with new song “Hands”. The highlight of the song is simply singer Nkechi Anele’s passionate belting of the lyrics, and the complementary accompaniment of the brass instruments.
They’re currently touring the country, have a look at dates and locations here.
Hometown: Melbourne, Australia.
Latest Album: Leave It All Behind, released 17 August 2012.
Sounds like: Alabama Shakes with a healthy dosing of horn instruments!
Say what? There are two covers on their debut album, including an instrumental version of Kyle Minogue and Robbie Williams duet of “Kids” which they somehow make work.
