This catchy tune by fresh Swedish trio NONONO is an upbeat indie anthem, complete with whistling and inspiring lyrics. Pumpin Blood was already a hit in Scandinavia earlier this year, but was only released in the UK recently, after which it made waves practically everywhere else.
Vocalist Stina Wappling is quite amazingly not formally vocally trained, although she did spend 3 years studying for a psychology degree before the band formed in the summer of 2012. She credits some of her experiences, including working as a psychiatric nurse, as inspiration for her songwriting. She says people should be able to feel and be touched by the group’s music.
Pumpin Blood is a nice mix of fresh beats, breathy vocals, melodic whistling and a very catchy chorus. Most importantly, in my humble opinion, it’s the perfect theme song for cartwheeling on the beach in slow motion, which is really everything we’re all looking for this summer.

Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden.
Upcoming Album: Their upcoming debut album looks set to be released in early 2014.
Say What? The band’s name comes from their desire to move away from being pushed into musical projects they weren’t passionate about, and their need to be able to say “no, no, no.”
With sweet summer kisses from Cath.
