Look, we’re not trying to gloat or anything, but us Melbournians are a talented bunch aren’t we? This unassuming city seems to churn out far more than it’s fair share of musical artists, especially over the past few years. Of course, Chet Faker is no exception, and his latest single “Talk is Cheap” does not disappoint.
After shooting to fame in 2011 for his cover of the 1996 classic “No Diggity” by Blackstreet, which later featured in a Super Bowl beer commercial in 2013, Chet Faker has gone onto collaborate with heavy-hitters like Flume and The Temper Trap.
Despite his success, the world has still been eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first album. At long last, Built on Glass, will finally be released on 11 April 2014. “Talk is Cheap” is the second single released from the album, and combines smooth melodies with uplifting vocals, creating a relaxed lounge vibe.
Make sure to check out the video clip, which is both mesmerising and metaphorical, and make sure to stay tuned for the release of the full album in April.

Say What? Nick Murphy decided he needed a pseudonym when fans came to see his gigs thinking he was a different, already established, musician of the same name. After that, he went by Chet Faker, a name created to honour American jazz musician Chet Baker, of whom he was a big fan.
