THE WEEEKENDER

Top 40 Rich List
Billboard has ranked the top 40 highest-paid musicians of last year. Taylor Swift comes out on top with just under $40,000,000 US earnings in 2013. Say what you want about her, she knows how to rake in the monies. Coming in second and third respectively are Kenny Chesney and Justin Timberlake with just over $30,000,000 each. One can only dream.

SXSW
South by Southwest (SXSW) wraps up today after just under a week of music focused events. For those that are unfamiliar, SXSW is an annual festival/conference held in Austin, Texas that incorporates music, film and interactive. SXSW Music is a leading industry event with conferences by day and performances by night. Over 2000 artists attended the event and a record number of 55 Australian acts performed at this year’s SXSW including our new favourite boy The Kite String Tangle, Hottest 100 2013 winner Vance Joy and popular band The Preatures.
Watch Jimmy Kimmel SXSW edition of his Lie Witness News if you can handle the awkward cringe-worthy responses of SXSW attendees just trying to keep up with the made up artists the reporter keeps throwing at them.

triple j’s One Night Stand
Moving onto another annual music event that’s a little closer to home, triple j has announced their One Night Stand location and acts this week. Last year’s One Night Stand saw Flume, The Rubens, Seth Sentry and Ball Park Music perform to an 18,000 strong crowd in Dubbo. Get your road-trip crew together for the 17th of May.
