Just four days ago, on the 28th of March, The Aston Shuffle released their second album, Photographs. The album was much anticipated with singles “Comfortable” and “Tear It Down” receiving largely positive reviews from critics. The band are touring Australia later this, year hitting most states in August and coming to Melbourne in September, so make sure to keep an eye out for them.
The most recent single release from their album, “Never Take It Away”, features US singer/songwriter/all around musician, Mayer Hawthorne. Hawthorne has had his fair share of guest appearances, including a collaboration with Pitbull late last year, and his vocals are a big part of what makes this song worthy of a listen. Of course, the boys from The Aston Shuffle do their part too, with that seven second intro just the first of the tune’s many catchy features. The drop leading into the chorus, somewhat Empire of the Sun-esque, manages to quickly change the feel of the tune from a laidback summer anthem to a dance-worthy party starter! The final chorus sees Hawthorne get a little bit freer with the vocals, adding a sort of American, poppy element to the tune, which works well with the song’s directional changes from chilled to upbeat.
Admittedly, I’m yet to listen to Photographs in full, but their most recent single release has added another song to the fast-growing list of hits from the album. With tickets already available for their album tour, it might be worth planning your September in advance and getting some (they’re pretty cheap!) or, if you can’t plan that far ahead, give Photographs a listen or two.

Say what? The Aston Shuffle’s Facebook page is definitely an amusing one to follow, with Vance Musgrove posting this for bandmate Mikah Freeman’s birthday, only to get this in return for his own.
