Nelly – Ride Wit Me (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix)

Realising that Nelly’s euphoric hit “Ride Wit Me” circa 2001 is 13 years old is, well, even more daunting than realising that 2001 was 13 years ago. But rest assured that you won’t be left high and dry of those smooth nostalgic beats and ensemble hoots letting you know that, ‘hey, must be the money!’

Enter San Franciscan Austen Afridi, known as Viceroy, and his latest remix of the golden classic. The remix is a part of his “Jet Life” Series, where he remixes a few other favourites, like Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It”, all in the pursuit of ‘summertime all the time’. Who’s complaining?

The remix still delivers the much-loved song, but adds a slightly faster, electronic, and almost poppy sound to the previously smooth RnB vibes. If you were a fan of this one back in the day, you owe it to yourself to check out this modern take.

THE BREAKDOWN:

Hometown: San Francisco, US.
Sounds like: Nelly… but remixed.
Say what? The band’s self-proclaimed interests are “Pool parties, beaches, girls, playing music for drunk people…did I mention pool parties?” They sound a bit all right.

With sweet summer kisses from Cath
