Here at art felicis, we’re loving the mix of smooth, soulful pop melodies with electronic dance beats that’s coming out of Aussie artists such as Chet Faker and The Kite String Tangle. Now we can add to this list Flamingo, a 3-piece from Adelaide.
Made up of vocalist Kacee Heidt, with Oli Kirk and Tamblyn in charge of ‘sounds’, Flamingo have been garnering considerable love and attention across Australia. They’ve been honing their performance skills over the past 12 months, supporting many acts including Bonobo, The Kite String Tangle, Rufus, Baths, and have most recently played at Groovin the Moo in Oakbank. Following the success of their single “Heart, My”, Flamingo have recently released their debut EP Heavy Steps.
The title track starts with an atmospheric reverberating guitar, creating a sense of vastness with echoing wood blocks and percussion beats. The vocals from Kacee are hypnotic and soulful, transporting you on a dreamy soundscape. If you’re keen to hear more, be sure to check out the rest of their EP.
