Since its formation in 2006, Bag Raiders has been a fairly successful Australian DJ act.
The dance-pop duo have only released one studio album, the self-titled Bag Raiders released in 2010, but consistently churned out new EPs and singles up until 2012. They then went quiet… until now.
The boys from Sydney have returned with a new EP titled Nairobi/Savannah and due for release this Friday (July 4). The EP includes the two title tracks, as well as two remixes that are not yet available.
As the title of both tracks suggests, these newest releases have a very African, grassland atmosphere to them. At some moments, “Nairobi” has me feeling like I’m watching an intense scene of The Lion King and, at other moments, feeling like I’m playing a jungle level of Crash Bandicoot. “Savannah” has more of a club/dance vibe to me but still incorporates that same African touch.
Have a listen to both tracks below and get your groove on. Let us know what you think.
Hometown: Sydney, Australia.
Upcoming EP: Nairobi/Savannah.
Sounds like: Grasslands of Africa on a dance floor.
Say what? The shit they post on Facebook… like seriously… watch this.
