The Kite String Tangle – Arcadia

Oh Danny Harley. Dreamy dreamy Danny Harley.

It’s no secret that The Kite String Tangle is a favourite at art felicis. His stellar performances at the Northcote Social Club and Groovin The Moo really sealed the deal for us. Oh, and Jane has a massive crush on the dude. Don’t worry, she’s a big fan of his music too.

His latest release, “Arcadia”, is the first single from his debut EP, Vessel, which is scheduled for release in August this year. In a similar vein to his earlier stuff, “Arcadia” is down tempo electronic, with an unwinding melody and starry synth that slowly builds and stirs something inside.

While his breakthrough track “Given The Chance” is about the vulnerabilities and hesitancies that exist at the beginning of a relationship, “Arcadia” speaks of a relationship at the end of the road. With lyrics like “We’re drifting apart, we’re parallel sinking ships, you’re anxiously reaching out, but I’m losing my grip,” Danny’s earnest vocals leave you a little melancholic for lost love and past relationships.

“ “Arcadia” represents an unobtainable ideal that we all create in certain situations,” says Danny. “In this case it focuses on a post-relationship situation where you want to go back to that comfortable space that the relationship represented, but things have changed and that place doesn’t exist anymore. It doesn’t stop us from striving for it even though it might be out of reach.”

Who broke your heart Danny? WHO?! (Ahem, Jane will happily mend it for you.)

The more I listen to it, the more I fall in love. It’s a bit of a heartwrencher, so if you’re still reeling from the hurt of a breakup, this might make you shed a tear or two.

Tickets are still available for The Kite String Tangle’s Vessel EP Australia Tour throughout August and September. If you can get your hands on a ticket, hold on to it dearly! Oh, and say hi to Jane for us! She’ll be at the front of the crowd holding a “Marry me Danny!” sign.

Hometown: Brisbane, Australia
Upcoming EP: Vessel, due for release on 8 August, 2014.
Sounds like: Chet Faker, Jaymes Young, Shoffy
Say what? Danny Harley is impressed with the Salted Caramel and White Chocolate flavour at Gelato Messina (nice choice!).

Ciao ciao, Arianna
