Yesterday saw the release of British rock band Bastille’s new single “Bad News”, proving they have come a long way since 2010.

The first play of their new tune was on Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio 1 show yesterday and will feature on the special 7” vinyl release of the eighth single Bad Blood.

Band members include Dan Smith, Kyle Simmons, William Farquarson and Chris “Woody” Wood.

Going a bit renegade, “Bad News” experiments with an edgier and more electro sound, offering something a little different to fans. Yet, Dan’s unmistakable voice wavers above the synths and settled beats.

Embedded with meaning lyrics: “Bad news like a sucker punch, what do you say?” It all seems too relevant for this week of bad news, as we mourn the loss of funny man Robin Williams.

Rumour has it, the band is working on its upcoming second studio album, said to be named Bad News estimated to be released early next year.
